If the 802 edition is just a little toomodest for you, Mackie's 1202VLZ4 mixer is an excellent alternative. It offers 4 mono channels and 4 stereo channels - great for a small studio or live band. The affordable VLZ4 mixer series boasts a number of interesting features, including exclusive Onyx preamplifiers that ensure a professional sound with very low noise and high headroom. Additionally, the VLZ4 mixers have clear controls, allowing for a great workflow.
The Comprehensive 1202VLZ4
The Mackie 1202VLZ4 has four mono channels (XLR and jack), which enable you to connect several microphones and guitars. Four stereo channels are at your disposal as well, to accommodate instruments like keyboards or electronic drums, for example. The mixer also features a range of inputs and outputs of various kinds, so you can plug in PA and monitor speakers, effects gear, your laptop and your headphones.

Ik heb deze mixer ruim 2,5 jaar geleden gekocht voor mijn thuisstudio ter vervanging van een paar jaar oude Behringer.
Het verschil in kwaliteit is duidelijk: geen enkel geruis, de mixer voelt zeer degelijk aan (de metalen behuizing is ook relatief zwaar) en alle draaiknoppen en schakelaars zijn solide en werken naar behoren (1x een beetje contactreiniger in een draaiknop gespoten).
Ook veelzijdig voor stereo gebruik: er zitten 4 stereo kanalen plus 2 stereo returns op dus 6 stereo kanalen met volumeregeling in totaal (plus nog een stereo tape in en uiteraard de 4 mono mic/line kanalen). Er zijn niet veel mixers (ook veel duurdere) die meer stereo kanalen hebben, eerder minder. De mute/alt 3-4 schakeling is ook erg handig.
